What is the Flatiron 23rd Street Partnership?

November 29, 2010

GAI (www.gunwel.com) is located at 44 East 21st Street in NYC located in Gramercy, or more appropriately called the Flatiron District. I love this area of NYC as it is close to some great parks (Madison & Gramercy), easy subway access, great shopping and amazing restaurants. And the tourists are here but not like at Times Square or even Broadway. Flatiron 23rd Street Partnership takes care of the infra structure in this area and they are so accommodating that I thought they deserved a blog.

The Flatiron Partnership is one of 64 BIDs (Business Improvement District) throughout New York City that focus on community improvements and economic development at the neighborhood level. The 23rd Street Partnership was formed in 2006, is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to enhance the area’s reputation as one of New York’s most vital and exciting neighborhoods. This is accomplished by maintaining a clean and safe environment for the district’s businesses, residents, and visitors; by spearheading area improvements projects; and by marketing the diverse business and retail options in the neighborhood.

  • Walk With Us: Free walking tours are sponsored every Sunday by the Partnership. Each Sunday at 11 a.m. meeting at the southwest corner of Madison Square Park, at 23rd Street and Broadway, in front of the statue of William Seward.
  • Shop With Us: Ever since the turn of the last century and the days of the fabled Ladies’ Mile, shoppers have flocked to Flatiron.
  • Eat With Us: The Flatiron District is home to some of the world’s premier dining establishments in every price range.

I appreciate what the Flatiron 23rd Street Partnership does for my business and all the business in the area.  Come visit us anytime at Gunwel Associates (or give us a call at 212-979-6830) and we can give you a list of my favorite restaurants in the area. See you soon!
