Do You Want The All American Boyfriend For Valentine’s Day?

February 10, 2011

With Valentines Day just around the corner it is only fitting that America’s favorite couple entice us with a possible reunion. Yes, I’m talking about Ken and Barbie. The iconic couple, who split in 2004 after 43 years together, are on the brink of a reunion. The couple ended things to have some time apart (although rumors surfaced that Ken wasn’t ready to settle down!) and shortly after Barbie was seen canoodling with a new man, Blaine the Australian surfer. It has been 7 long years but Ken, wounded heart healed, is ready to get Barbie back. There is a catch, it’s up to America to decide if the plastic duo become one again. Mattel has launched the website,, where visitors can vote via a love-o-meter to determine the fate of the duo. Ken has pulled out all the stops by turning to social media and advertising in an effort to get his blonde bombshell back. Ken can be seen on several billboards in southern California professing his love. His twitter feeds read “I think @BarbieStyle and I are perfect for each other. If you do too, vote YES for her to take me back!” If that isn’t love then I don’t know what is.

Only on Monday will all of America know if they made it or not. Nerve wracking I know. Growing up there were just some couples you knew belonged together, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Pepe Le Pew and Penelope Pussycat and of course Ken and Barbie. You could imagine my dismay when I heard of the breakup. The real underlying question is, do Facebook and Twitter fans still like Ken and Barbie or do we prefer the single independent Barbie? The love-o-meter is currently ranking towards “give him a chance” where only a few days ago it ranked at “let him down easy”. It’s anyones guess at this point, but I think in the spirit of Valentines Day and in the desire of every girls (or boys)heart to have the perfect all American boyfriend, Ken and Barbie will be one again.

Here at GAI ( we would love to know how you would vote. Not sure how the love-o-meter ranks in your relationship with the IRS? Let us help you by handling all your tax needs. Give us a call at 212-979-6830 or stop by! We are open Monday-Friday 8am-8am and Saturdays 8am-5pm.
