What Can Twilighters Expect From Stephenie Meyer In The Future?

April 3, 2011

Ten lucky Twilight fans were recently able to have a meet and greet with the queen on vampires herself, Stephenie Meyer. USA Today published a cover story about the experience of both the fans and what other Twilighters can expect from Stephanie Meyer in the future. The super secret meeting took place in Vancouver, Canada, where filming for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 and Part 2 are being filmed. The twi-hards discussed with Meyer the “finesse and endless authority of vampire anatomy, werewolf legends the back stories of the series’ minor characters and, of course, the Edward/Bella/Jacob love triangle.” The Twilight Saga has given Stephanie Meyer more than just celebrity status, she now has “producer credits” in the next two upcoming films. If you haven’t read Twilight, I suggest you get on it asap because the numbers don’t lie. Meyer has been number 1 on USA Today’s Best-Selling Book list 38 times, the Twilight Saga has been number 1 on the top 50 for 167 total consecutive weeks, and 116 million copies of the Twilight Saga have been sold worldwide in all formats.

So whats next on this super authors agenda? When asked about any more books on Edward and Bella, Meyer says “The story’s already been told, and I doubt I’ll ever write another series based on the same characters.” Don’t fret just yet, we may be seeing a book about the story of Jacob and Renesmee in the future. When asked if Jacob and Renesmee ( a werewolf and vampire-human hybrid) could have children Meyer responded by saying, “That is a question I’m reserving the right not to answer, because there is a chance I’ll go back to their story.” Regarding Midnight Sun, which she began in 2008 but halted when parts were leaked online, Meyer “hopes to do it someday because I know that’s what people want.” Yes Mrs.Meyer, I would really love to read that book. When the first chapter was leaked I managed to read it, and was hooked by page 2. Midnight Sun is a “Twilight novel told from Edward’s view-point.” In my opinion, it just makes you fall more in love with Edward, but then again I have a thing for cold white men who are dead inside so my opinion isn’t entirely impartial.

Meyer is also working on the second book in her adult science fiction series as well as tinkering with the idea for a book that, according to Meyer is “a fantasy that takes place in another world where people are using bows and arrows and swords. There’s a little bit of magic, but it’s a very limited form of magic. The characters are human, and some have the ability to use magic and some don’t. It’s pretty dark. People die. The main character is a 17 year-old-girl and she’s kind of cool.” I think that was already done in a small unknown movie, not sure if you heard of it, its called Avatar. Sorry Stephenie but stick to what you know, romanticising deadly creatures to the point that human girls would rather date a vampire or werewolf than a real boy. There has to be a dating service for that somewhere.

Somehow I doubt that a Stephanie Meyer book would wind up anything like Avatar…can’t imagine a nice Mormon mom writing a James Cameron movie! But, as a grandmother who read Harry Potter and Twilight with the grandkids and found herself hooked by the stories in spite of herself, I would like to read Jacob and Renesme’s story. I hope she writes it! Thanks for the post.

Well it saddens me that we only get to see Bella in the last part of the series as vampire Bella especially with the best power of all and from the pictures she’s gorgeous as a vampire, I just wish we had more of her talent to experience well such as it is life goes on. Now the Jacob and Nessie thing I was doubtful at first but anything twilight related I support, which brings me to thoughts MIDNIGHT SUN I am so waiting on the completion of that project surely Stephnie you plan to finish what you’ve started? I’ve read the chapters over and over please, please Mrs.Meyer indulge us one more time, but from Edward point of view I really, really enjoyed his family take on he and Bella those were some of the funnier moments to me. Please, please, complete oh and release. Thanks4daydreams!!!!!
